In a world that feels like it is spinning ever faster, where change is occurring at a rapid pace and our ability to keep up seems overwhelming, happiness seems elusive. Is it really out of reach or is there a way to experience joy and live the life of your dreams? Here is the good news: life is not meant to be an unhappy struggle! If you feel tugged in a multitude of directions with no sense of who you really are, there is HOPE and that is the best place to begin this journey.

When asked what would make them happy, many people respond with predictable answers:

Winning the lottery
Finding a soulmate
A new car
A better job

Now it’s your turn. What do you believe will make YOU happy? The exercise that follows is designed to get you thinking about, clarifying, and designing your dream life. Notice the word “designing.” Over the next year, you will live 365 days just like everyone around you. If you take no action toward your dream life, you’ll simply live the next year by default. The key is to deliberately design your life and take action to get there.

For a few moments, close your eyes and use your imagination. First, imagine the next year of your life lived by default. What does it feel like? Where do you live and work? How are your relationships with family and friends? Do you travel? How heavy does it feel when nothing in your life has changed for the better?

Repeat this exercise but now imagine a life YOU design. What does that life feel like? Feel the emotion of your dream life. Where do you live and work? What do you do for fun? How are your relationships and finances? Imagine the “lightness” of your designed dream life.

Can you feel the difference? Did you sense a shift in your body when you imagined life lived on your terms? Remember this little exercise and practice getting to the feeling state of your new life. Yes, it takes practice and it is likely you’ll meet with some uncomfortable resistance around why you can’t have this ideal life. The automatic responses are just a product of your conditioning up until now. Changing that conditioning takes practice and an important key is action. Choose one step, one action each day that moves you forward. As you take each step, new opportunities will show up for you to take another step. Keep the momentum going and soon you’ll see amazing progress. Lock in the positive feelings of progress with some enthusiasm and gratitude and you’ll be on your way to a big, bold, beautiful life!

You bring up a great tool that is so important in the Happiness formula! The MIND!!!

Saying, Seeing and Feeling your life the way you want it to be, when everything around you in the physical world reflects, “you can’t…because you haven’t yet,” visualizing what you want to have it critical for success and happiness.

Thanks for the great reminder and visualization exercise!
